Funeral Information for Lanny Harvey

As most of you know, Lanny Harvey, a long-time staple of the micro-sprint/modified midget world, was killed Saturday night in a motor vehicle collision on his way to the weekly races at the Airport Raceway. His wife Betty, son Todd, and Todd's wife Cyndi, were also with him; Todd austained minor injuries, while Betty sustained some serious injuries as well. Cyndi was uninjured.

The funeral has been set for Saturday, July 17th, at 2:00 PM, and will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas; the church is located at the corner of Main St. & Kansas Ave.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the Disabled Veterans of America in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, KS.

Results, Driver Info, and POINTS!

I'll keep this short: Driver Info has gone up again, Results from June 12th have been posted, and I have Points for the year in my possession! Everybody needs to thank Dave profusely this upcoming race weekend for getting that out, and maybe say thanks to the scorers. Their job is a thankless one, and nerve-racking at best. I will have points up sometime tomorrow afternoon, as it'll take me a bit to get everything transferred from one medium to another. I'll let you all know when they're up.

UPDATE: Points are now Posted, including totals and averages. They are in PDF format (beware). I will have them in hard copy at the track on Saturday as well.

Stuff

Well, 5 weeks into the season, and we don't have points, and I barely have one week's results (June 5, 2010). Results will be posted soon.

I realize that most of you guys are racing for points, since there are no weekly purses, but this is all in the name of racing for fun, right? As much as I would like to get the results and points posted here for everyone to keep track of things, I really can't when I don't possess them. So, for those of you with as much interest vested in this as myself, speak to the powers at be about the lack of anything at all. It might help get the message delivered a little more effectively than what I can do.

Also, for those still interested in Photos, I'll have them this upcoming week (I promise). I had a printer setback that prevented me from having them this week.

Last but not least, keep the Driver Profiles coming in. The more the merrier. I still don't have an official roster of who has been here since the season's beginning, and what you're all sending me is all I have to go on (a big thanks to all those sending that stuff in. I'm getting it up as soon as I can).

Driver Profiles Added

Hey ya'll.

If you've been submitting Driver Information, thanks a BUNCH. Keep it coming, as it's filling out the site a little more. Now if I could just get ahold of results and points... *grumblegrumblegrumble*...

I will be selling 8x10s and 8.5x11 photos of cars that were present at the Play Day back at the beginning of the season. I haven't been able to make it to any other race dates yet, but will be there this Saturday to take more of the folks I haven't gotten yet already. Anyways, each print will be about $10, but I'll cut some deals if you want multiples or more than one ($15 for two maybe?). If I don't have any of you yet, don't fret, I'll get some material this weekend and have it ready on June 5th. Or, if you can't wait that long, shoot me an email and we'll work something out via mail.

Brand New Season, Sponsors, Photos

Play Day had to likely be the windiest day of the year, with 30mph sustained winds, and gusts in the 40's. It made for some interesting practice for some people (just ask John Campbell). A few people had equipment problems, but nothing major. The car count was quite high, and is expected to be higher for this Saturday's season opener.

We've managed to pick up a large number of track sponsors for the season. PLEASE make sure to stop by and tell 'em thanks for us, or patronize their business. They support our love for open-wheel racing, so it's easy to say that you should support them! This year's list can be seen on the Sponsors Page.

Also, if anyone's interested, I took a ton of photos of the action at Play Day and will be selling prints of the racers who were there. If you're interested, Holler at me and let me know your car number and what you're interested in. I'll have some shots up in the forum and on my website for you to check out.

Rules Updated

04/21/10

After working out the kinks, some members pointed out that the rules didn't seem to add up. Those have been corrected, and should read as agreed upon by the members.

The Drivers Section WILL be coming back up as soon as we have updated photos and information for everybody (which should be starting sometime next week after this weekend's Play Day). If you'd like to get a head start on your information, email Brandon Worf or Rob Clower with the following information:

  • Driver's Name and Age
  • Current Residence or Hometown
  • Car Number, major sponsor
  • Anything else (number of years racing, pit crew, family members, whatever else
Include a current photo of the driver and/or car (or the driver in the car) and we'll get it posted within a few days. I'll also be out taking photos at the track over the course of the season, which we'll add to the pages as necessary.
