GENERAL RACING RULES AND TRACK PROCEDURES
2009 Tech Inspection and Sticker must be completed before a car runs on the Airport Raceway.
1. Admission into the racing area signifies acceptance of and compliance with all Airport Raceway rules and specifications.
2. The corporation and Airport Raceway reserves the right to refuse entry into the pit area for any reason.
3. All racing vehicles must have mufflers that keep their car at 95 DECIBELS or less at 50 feet from the racing surface.
4. No persons except track officials and Fire and EMS Rescue will be allowed in the infield. (2008 and 2009 we have been allowing one jr sprint parent into the infield to assist with starting of the jr motors)
5. The car/driver combination entered for the race program cannot change once they have pulled on the track to start the heat race. Starting positions are determined by point average, with the highest point average starting in the feature races. Heat races are also off point average, with the 2nd heat inverted. Drivers appearing for the first time in any division will be placed at the rear of his/her heat and feature races for that race program.
6. Race line-ups will be posted on the pit board. No delay between races will be tolerated. Cars may not scratch from the original line-up of any race to start in another race. Every car that signs in will be placed in a feature unless scratched or disqualified for the night. If a car scratches from line-up, cars will move straight up NO criss-cross. This includes a restart of 1st lap.
7. The entry ramp from the pit area to the track will be closed when the red signal light at the pit board is on. No other cars will be permitted to enter the track for that particular race.
8. The pole car shall set a pace as determined by the flagman’s signals for the start and all cars will go by it. At the start of a race, no car will overtake or pass another car before the green flag is thrown; this includes the restart after a yellow or red flag condition. On restarts, after one lap or more has been completed, cars will go between a orange cone and wall. A cone will be placed on the front or rear straight during restart pace laps. If any car passes inside either cone they will go to the rear of the field. There will be no passing of cars until you pass the cone. If you hit the cone or pass a car, you will be put to the rear of the field. There will be no passing of cars until you pass the cone. If you hit the cone or pass a car, you will be put to the rear; second offense will result in disqualification.
All starts will be nose to tail.9. Spins or tangles occurring in the first lap in any event will call for a complete restart. Any cars coming to a complete stop will go to the rear of the field. This may be over ruled if the referee deems so.
10. If a race is stopped after the first lap is completed, the cars will be restarted in single file in the same position that they crossed the finish line during the last full green flag lap. All cars coming to a complete stop will go to the rear of the field. This may be over ruled if referee deems so.
11. When the yellow flag comes out, the lead car will immediately slow to parade speed. Noncompliance can cause the black flag to be given to the lead car for disqualification from that event. Passing another car under yellow flag conditions will cause disqualification.
12. During a yellow flag, cars cannot be worked on. If you get out of your car you cannot continue to race in that event. If you leave the racetrack at any time you may not re-enter that race. You can work on your car during a red on the racetrack or infield only. If allowed by the refree. Upon the completion of clearing the track, the flag man will flash the yellow light to indicate to start your car and proceed with the line up process. If you are not ready to go and are still working on your car at that time you will be put to the rear of the field. Track officials may call for a closed red due to time or for any other reason at any time. A closed red means the cars cannot be worked on by anybody!!!
13. If a car spins out by itself once during a race causing the yellow flag, he/she can continue to race, but must start on the back of the pack. If a car spins out more than once by itself, he/she is finished for that race event. However, if he/she is touched by another car, he/she can continue. In spins involving two or more cars, all cars get to restart but must line up at the back of the pack. Cars will be scored and awarded points.
14. If your car develops problems, causing it to slow down, do not move to the outside of the track. Move to the inside of the track towards the infield. If you exit track under green, you will be disqualified for the night.
15. All cars that require assistance due to a mishap that caused the yellow or red flag must go to the back of the pack on the restart if they are able to race. On realignments after a yellow or red flag, if a car pulls out of line for any reason, he/she goes to the back of the pack. Drivers disqualified during the heat race will start scratch in their next feature.
16. Cars that have left the racing surface and entered the infield may re-enter the track on the straight-aways only. Reentering in the corners will cause the car to be disqualified. Cars must be on the racing surface when crossing the start/finish line to be scored for that lap! This call is made by the scorers and will not be questioned!
17. The race is over when the lead car receives the checkered flag and further scoring will discontinue as soon as each car has crossed the finish line one time. Finishing positions will be determined by the number of laps completed. Any feature race shall be subject to being called after 2/3 of scheduled laps or 15 minutes elapsed time during that particular race. This is to be done at the promoter and/or track official’s discretion.
18. Any person sustaining injury while on the track facilities must report the injury to a track official no later than 15 minutes after the end of the racing program. Any person entering a hospital with such an injury must advise Airport Raceway Club of their intent before entering the hospital.
19. Drivers who drink alcoholic beverages while participating in a racing program will be suspended for one calendar year from the date of the offense.
20. If you stop to argue with a track official on the track, you will be put in the back or disqualified!
21. Packing the track will be done by every class.
22. When a red flag/red light appears, all cars are to stop immediately. Do not drive to a place on the track for convenience. You may not start or drive your car under power while the red light is on – you will be disqualified. Leave both gate areas to the track open for Fire and EMS. The flagman will turn the yellow and red on together when a red flag line-up is ready. All cars will proceed to the cone on the back straight and stop until the red goes out.
23. Once the yellow light is on and cars are lining up, if you stop and require any assistance, you will be placed to the rear of the line-up.
24. You may stop during a yellow for safety reasons only! You will retain your position! Safety meaning seat belts, helmet, ECT. or something on the track. If your car requires any help or work you will be sent to the back! You cannot stop and have your car checked for any other reason or you will go to the back!
25. All cars finishing in the top five must stop at the scales and weigh. If you are light, the car and driver may pull to the side untouched by crew and reweigh a second time. If you are 1 lb. light you will be disqualified for that race. It is your responsibility to check your car to track scales. Anyone finishing in the top five and does not weigh will be disqualified for that race.
26. Any car that is in the infield and deliberately pulls out on the track and stops to bring out a caution will go to the pits.
ANY POINT NOT COVERED HEREIN SHALL BE DECIDED BY THE CORPORATION / AIRPORT RACEWAY CLUB AND/OR TRACK OFFICIALS AND THEIR DECISION SHALL BE FINAL.
DISQUALIFICATIONS AND SUSPENSIONS

2. All disqualifications, suspensions or fines for violation of the rules will be levied before the race officials leave the race site.
3. A car starting in an event without its body parts, engine cover, or chain guard in place will cause the car and driver to be disqualified. Any damages to a car during an event will not cause disqualification but must be fixed prior to the next race night, unless deemed unsafe to continue.
4. If a car fails the decibel test, it will be disqualified.
5. Cars running across the infield at a high rate of speed to get back on the track will be disqualified.
6. Rough driving calls will be made by the referees and flagman only. First offense will automatically go to the back. Second offense will result in being blacked flagged. Any car purposely striking another car during a yellow, or red flag, or after a race will be disqualified for the night, and points will be thrown out. A second offense will be suspension for a period of time deemed by the rules committee and refree.
7. Any condition considered unsafe by the track officials will be adequate grounds for barring a car from competing until the fault has been corrected to their satisfaction.
8. Any verbal protest to any official other than referee by a car owner or driver will automatically disqualify car and driver for the complete program of that date. Suspension of privilege to re-enter the pits may also be levied.
9. No violent arguments including profanity and hand justures (the finger) on the track or in the pits will be tolerated. Any person violating this rule will be subject to suspension as outlined in the following paragraph.
10. Fighting is specifically prohibited.
